About the team
You will join an interdisciplinary team including clinical, biomedical and computational experts. The project includes 4 partners: Edinburgh University (lead), Heriot-Watt University, European Bioinformatics Institute and The Welcome Sanger Institute. We are part of a wider Helmsley Charitable Trust-funded consortium to develop a Human Gut Cell Atlas. The clinical focus is on Crohn’s Disease.
Detailed Description
The primary role of the Heriot-Watt team will be on the design and implementation of a Common Coordinate Framework for the Gut Cell Atlas. The work will include developing 3D image models of the human gut based on the Woolz image processing libraries, and the design and implementation of an anatomical location reference system that encompasses image data, natural language, ontologies and 3D atlases. The work will involve the design of a distributed, relational database system, the use of the Open Microscopy Environment (OME) and the development of appropriate graphical user interfaces using frameworks such as Django or AngularJS.
