Job Details
We are excited to offer the opportunity of a permanent full-time Accountant within our Operations section of Finance. Finance Operations provides a comprehensive financial management service to the council. The Analytics Team, where you will be based, provides delivery of accurate, timely and insightful financial information and analyses as well as a high level of effective service to internal and external stakeholders, including Finance Business Partners and Budget Holders. This enables Directorate Leadership Teams to make effective decisions based on financial information provided.
You will be responsible for the shared management of a team of x Accounting Technicians, ensuring a high quality of service is provided to both Finance Business Partners and Budget Holders across the organisation.

The Person
You will be a qualified member of a CCAB Accounting Body.
You should have experience supervising and managing staff and be able to develop a good working relationship with team members, service contacts and other Finance staff.
You should have experience of revenue monitoring and have the ability to analyse financial and management information as well as the ability to provide high quality financial information to non-financial managers.
Key skills required include strong technical accounting skills, strong communication, presentation and facilitation skills, accuracy, time management, customer service, people management, interpersonal and organisational skills.
Use of technology is a key part of the service, so you should be confident in the use of new technology and have experience of using financial systems as well as being competent in the use of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
Continuous improvement of processes is vital and you should have the ability to identify process change as well as embracing and promoting change.
Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain a Basic Disclosure through Disclosure Scotland.
