The Careers Service are looking for friendly, motivated, energetic students to contribute to improving student employability. You will provide a welcoming frontline service to students and employers, both in person and online, and support our work by maintaining accurate information and resources on our online portals.
Applicants must be available for an in-person induction week from Monday 2 September and to officially start the role from Monday 9 September.
The Opportunity:
The Careers Service Assistant role is a multi-faceted opportunity to support a range of different stakeholders in a vibrant office environment of staff motivated to provide an excellent student experience at the University. It will give you first-hand insight into the graduate labour market and opportunities to interact with recruiters.
This will include:
Providing a Welcome Desk service to students and employers, in person at our offices in the Main Library Building, George Square, and Nucleus, King's Buildings, by phone, and online, explaining our service and referring callers to appropriate next steps.
Advertising vacancies and events and managing accurate record keeping on the MyCareerHub database, in accordance with employment law.
Supporting large and small scale in person events hosted by the Careers Service.
Supporting the Careers Service use of social media - this could include posting on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and Red, writing blogs, filming or being filmed, and contributing ideas.
Supporting proactive marketing outreach on campus.
Administrative tasks such as proof-reading, editing captions on videos, recording statistics, recording attendance at events.
Your skills and attributes for success:
Ability to build rapport quickly in a customer-service setting, using strong interpersonal skills and spoken and written communication skills
Excellent accuracy and attention to detail; able to follow instructions
Ability to work on own initiative, manage time effectively to complete tasks, and multi-task when necessary
Ability to be a collaborative, flexible and adaptable team member
