Health Inequalities Officer at East Midlands Shared Services

About the Role

Join our Public Health team to support the effective management and delivery of supporting health inequalities in rural areas of Leicestershire. 

Working with key partners, you will be supporting the preventative work of Public Health by delivering person centred, asset-based support to communities. 

You’ll play a key role by encouraging open conversations to make lifestyle changes providing information advice and signposting on relevant topics and responding to prevalent themes and needs. You’ll promote independence and resilience, by developing and identifying and utilising localised, community-based supports where possible to meet the needs of residents.

To liaise and work in partnership with other preventative services across the statutory and voluntary sector to ensure a Co-ordinated approach to support for individuals and targeted work streams.

Responsible for leading Healthy Workplace MOTs in commercial settings across Leicestershire and Rutland. Providing health checks to Business employees- supporting the development of healthier workforces and support workplaces to develop a workplace health strategy for their employees.

You’ll lead on health and safety processes relating to the delivery of health MOTs, including adhering to policies and dynamically risk assessing based on location.

About you:

  • Level 3 qualification Or Demonstrable experience identified within the section below.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with partners to influence the achievement of successful outcomes for the people of Leicestershire. To utilise techniques such a behavioural change and motivational interviewing to create opportunities and methods for change.
  • Good knowledge of asset-based community development and its key approaches
  • Knowledge of Health MOTs.To be able to complete Health MOTs for employees, residents in commercial and community settings. Including taking Cholesterol and Cardio samples for testing. 
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements for completing Health MOTS – including, COSH, Infection, Prevention and Control, PPE, transportation, moving & handling, risk assessments
  • Ability to communicate clearly and accurately, both orally and in writing, and the ability to use Information Technology applications e.g., Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and database applications as relevant to the department. with a wide range of people. 

An enhanced DBS check is required for this post.
