An exciting opportunity for a Team Manager has arisen in the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Service. The role includes providing day-to-day direction and supervision to front line BIAs and administrative staff to ensure the delivery of a high quality, person-centred, accountable, statutory DoLS service.

The office base for this post is County Hall.

The DoLS Service is well regarded nationally and is well resourced to deal with a large number of referrals each year. 

 

The Team

The Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Service manages the DoLS Legal Framework for Leicestershire County Council and Rutland County Council. The Service works within legislation including Human Rights Act, Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards. 

The duties of the service includes receiving and processing DoLS referrals to their conclusion whilst appointing suitably qualified and trained assessors, managing the procurement and contracts of external stakeholder such as Paid Person’s Representatives and working in line with the DoLS Regulations 2008. 

The Service works closely with colleagues within the Local Authority, NHS, care providers offering MCA and DoLS guidance and advice. 

 

Job Purpose

  • To ensure that staff can provide good outcomes for people by implementing the department’s operating model and ways of working to deliver social care 
  • To provide technical and professional support to team members 
  • To improve ways of working for staff by supporting and implementing improved working between teams and partner agencies
  • To manage staffing budgets and staff performance using departmental and corporate policies ensuring effective and efficient team capacity, capability and delivery 
  • To ensure the effective management of team performance and resources
  • To provide performance and delivery reports to Strategic Service Managers and the Head of Service

Experience of working with MCA/DOLS or as a BIA would be an advantage.

A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.

About You

To apply for this post, you must:

  • Have extensive previous management experience in a social care setting
  • Have a sound knowledge of the Legislation relevant to the service 
  • Experience of stakeholder and relationship management
  • Experience of business planning 
  • Proven experience in budget management and in delivering significant efficient savings
  • Theoretical, practical and procedural knowledge of social work and social care legislation including MCA, DoLS policy and best practice
  • An understanding of, and commitment to Equal Opportunities, and the ability to apply this to all situations
