Insurance Processor

The primary purpose of this position is to assist First Commerce in fulfilling our Vision: Empowering Generations, Transforming Communities. This is achieved through delivering Remarkable Member Service as defined by our Service Standards as well as building and maintaining strong member relationships through identification of member's financial needs and effectively recommending appropriate products and services to meet those needs.

This position handles all documentation related to the consumer loan process. Some examples are processing Insurance Payment Requests, Collateral Protection Insurance (CPI) postings and rejects, force placing PPI processing GAP insurance claims, credit life and disability claims. In addition, this position serves as support to other CLSC positions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Processes premiums for force-placed insurance (collateral protection insurance CPI) for vehicle loans and PPI (Property Protection Insurance) for mortgage loans. Involves pulling reports from optical daily and posting refunds to loans and rejected premiums to the loan as a loan advance, authorizing the payment of premiums to insurance vendor. Providing insurance vendors with proof of members' insurance coverage, working with CPI provider to request refunds when appropriate and working reports provided by CPI vendor to prevent force placement of insurance when possible and to assist accounting with balancing CPI general ledger.
  • Responsible for pulling delinquent tax reports, adding the delinquent taxes to the loans, ordering checks to be sent to the various tax collectors offices. Sends required correspondence to members related to the different levels of delinquency.
  • Processes insurance claims for vehicle losses; includes preparing Guarantee of Title letters for insurance companies, coordinating loss process with members and insurance companies, and posting insurance company settlement payments.
  • Processes GAP claims and post GAP settlement checks will include researching account if GAP claim is denied, sending out appropriate notification letters to members regarding Insurance Settlement and GAP payment or denials.
  • Processes Credit Life and Disability Claims; will be responsible to input all pertinent data regarding claims into vendor software. Posts disability insurance payment daily to members accounts.
  • Serves as a technical resource to members and branch personnel in force placed collateral insurance, GAP claims, Insurance payoffs, and Credit Life and Disability claims and paid out consumer loans.
  • Responsible for the preparation of payoff quotes requested by members and title companies. Assists FSO's with members request for LOC renewal on HELOCS.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Basic Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Displays a strong attention to detail and exhibits excellent organizational skills
  • Strong commitment to service including problem resolution skills such as researching, follow up, and apply corrections
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills the ability to write correspondence with explanations, apologies, and resolutions to problems
  • Strong ability to work independently including reading and comprehending instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Strong math skills including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent, and late charges.
  • Basic knowledge of adjustable-rate mortgage functions and various interest accrual methods.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Performs job duties in accordance with policies established by the Board of Directors under the rules and regulations set by the National Credit Union Administration, the State of Florida and any applicable State laws for financial centers located in other States.
  • Complies with Reg E, BSA, OFAC and CIP requirements such as reporting suspicious or unusual activity to manager.
  • Fully supports in actions and words First Commerce's Vision, Mission, Core Values and Service Standards
  • Attends meetings timely and as required; reports to work as scheduled and adheres to First Commerce's dress code.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Minimum one (1) year experience and/or training in consumer loan servicing; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have strong knowledge of consumer loan terminology.
