At Kepler, we know our people are our most valuable asset! We’re looking for an Assc. Director, People to join our People team. As an Assc. Director, People, you will be a primary People Business Partner to our teams located in the US and Canada, partnering with managers and leadership to ensure our employees are experiencing best in class support! This individual will report into the Assc. Vice President, HR – North America and will co-manage a junior team member. You will need to be curious and have an innovative mindset, excellent problem-solving abilities, and strong communication skills.  

What you’ll be doing:

  • Establish and maintain strong and effective relationships by being a trusted advisor to both employees and leaders to build a positive employee experience 
  • Provide coaching to leaders on building team dynamics of trust and collaboration, performance and PIP management situations, and on resolving conflict with compassion and fairness 
  • Partner with L&D during performance review cycles to address performance needs, lead calibration conversations, and advise on feedback delivery
  • Leverage HR subject matter expertise and best practices to lead resolution on employee relations, performance management, disciplinary actions, investigations, and accommodation situations in compliance and partnership with Legal, along with partnering with DEI where appropriate
  • Create, and act as an ambassador to, a culture of positive workplace experience by respecting individuals, building trust and credibility, establishing an approachable and welcoming space, and ensuring fairness when balancing business and employee needs
  • Partner with People Operations to strategize best practices and ensure data integrity within our People systems
  • Facilitate employee mobility processes, both domestically and internationally 
  • Drive strategic HR planning initiatives related to organizational design, compensation and bonus planning, overtime management, talent and succession planning, and headcount management
  • Partner with L&D and leaders to design and facilitate training strategies that support employee development, managerial training, or compliance needs (ex: manager milestone training, safe & inclusive workplace training)
  • Support broader HR special projects in alignment with company goals
  • Identify trends through people data, exit interviews, and employee conversations and recommend strategies for improvement
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations (local and federal) remain up-to-date and are aligned with HR best practices
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to lead the implementation of HR strategies and initiatives in support of business goals and that drive a high-performing workplace
  • Consistently monitor that company policies and procedures remain within compliance of relevant legal requirements and legislative updates
  • Co-supervise and mentor junior team member as frontline point of contact and growth planning, along with managerial oversight of life-cycle events (onboarding, offboarding, etc.)
  • Additional responsibilities as required

What you’ll bring:

  • A minimum of 6 years of HR experience, preferably with a multi-state organization of 350 employees or more
  • Experience in Canada employment law a plus
  • Ability to travel 10-15% of the time to US and CAN office locations
  • The ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion

  • Familiarity with excel, google sheets and Gmail
  • Ability to translate big picture vision into successful plans of action
  • Demonstrated ability to drive HR processes and strategies with best in class service
  • Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work proactively, juggle multiple priorities, and pay strong attention to detail
  • Ability to objectively coach employees and lines of leadership through complex and emotional situations
  • A passion to learn and gain new skills, curiosity is part of your DNA!

Total Compensation:        

  • Base Salary: $105,000 - $120,000
  • Target Annualized Discretionary Bonus: 10% ($10,500 - $12,000)
  • Target Total Cash: $115,500 - $132,000
