The ultrasound service at Mile End Hospital (MEH) is expanding as part of a new Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC), creating an opportunity for adaptive Sonographers to join our ultrasound team. They will be based at MEH with the potential to rotate to Royal London, St Bartholomew’s, & the North-East London Ultrasound Education Training Academy hosted by Whipps Cross hospital.
The CDC at MEH will provide a 7-day service with 12-hour days, offering the potential for flexible working & part time work.
The CDC will be responsible for a range of subspecialties (Non-obstetrics) such as General Abdomen, Gynecology, MSK, small parts & head & neck. Other specialties such as pediatrics’, obstetrics & fertility can be provided through potential rotation to other sites.
Training opportunities exist via a mix of practice education, formally accredited courses, & locally delivered training.

Our Sonographers undertake clinical work within established quality standards of practice, adhering to Ultrasound guidelines such as those published by BMUS, RCOG, RCR and NICE. The post-holder will work within departmental protocols as a practitioner in the delivery of all ultrasound imaging, reporting and management of the patient.
The post-holder will also liaise with key Lead Nurses, Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in the Women’s Health Division, as well as the Radiologists in the General Ultrasound Department. They will promote patient advocacy & communicate effectively with other health care professionals together with outside agencies regarding patient care & progress.
