My client is seeking a highly experienced Womenswear Designer to join their London office on a 1-year fixed-term contract for maternity cover. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Outerwear, Athleisure, and Performance Wear design within the fashion, athleisure, and outdoor industry.
Day-to-day of the role:
• Researching trends and key items seasonally.
• Preparing creative research on themes, colours, and fabrics based on the seasonal brief.
• Initiating original design sketches and technical specs for all styles following the seasonal brief.
• Researching and maintaining knowledge of relevant trends to advise on silhouettes, finishes, and fabric suitability.
• Creating mood and trend boards.
• Collaborating closely with the Sales Team and the Head of Design to build ranges seasonally and assist with the daily workload.
• Keeping up-to-date records of all... design and development for each style, including fabrication details and prints.
• Compiling spec sheets and technical packs for designs.
• Following range plans and critical paths to ensure strict adherence to deadlines.
• Attending fit sessions, implementing changes into specs and tech packs, and communicating changes to suppliers.
• Managing the delivery of development samples within the given timeline and organising their storage within the office space.
• Providing content for the creation of seasonal catalogues.
• Travelling to different locations for meetings with clients, brand owners, and collaborators as needed.
Skills & Qualifications:
• Ideally a minimum of 5-8 years’ experience in a design role focused on Outerwear, Athleisure, and Performance Wear.
• In-depth knowledge of garment construction techniques and pattern cutting.
• Extensive background in fit, fabric development, finishes, and construction details.
• Advanced knowledge of Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft packages.
• Proven ability to produce accurate and detailed specifications, both freehand and using design programmes
