CIS Security have an exciting opportunity available for a Security Officer for a well-known gallery in London, we are looking from someone who will be an ambassador to represent CIS Security who will demonstrate and deliver high quality guarding and customer service to all, bringing people and paintings together.
The core functionality of this role is to provide support to the Security department at a well-known Art Gallery in London. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the safety and security of the artwork, visitors, and building. You will be committed to providing a high level of hospitality, as well as a security function. You will be required to challenge, effectively manage, and escalate any suspicious behaviour within your environment.

Pay Rate: £13.15 per hour
Hours: Average 36 hours per week
Shifts: Full Flexibility Required – Days, Nights & Weekends – Monday to... Sunday
Job Requirements:
SIA Door Supervisor Licence required.
Security and customer facing/service experience is required (Culture sector preferable).
Must be flexible and be able to work; days, nights, weekends and have the flexibility to change shifts due to operational needs.
Physically fit to complete patrols internally and externally and able to stand/walk during shift.
Good levels of customer service, communication both written & verbal at all times.
A friendly, punctual, professional, reliable, and outgoing character.
To take pride in your appearance at all times, ensuring immaculate presentation.
Able to use a computer and be able to display excellent radio protocol.
Flexible in the approach to daily duties and additional events when held on site.
Maintains working knowledge of the locations & security & safety for assigned areas.
Able to work in a team as well as on your own and have the ability to be pro-active and think on your feet use initiative.
Be confident you are able to undertake 100% of all specific duties.
Be able to provide all the documentation and vetting information?requested.
Weekly rotas will be sent requiring full flexibility across Monday to Sunday and inclusive of standard Gallery public opening hours (10:00-18:00 Saturday-Thursday / 10:00-21:00 Fridays). In addition to public opening times, the position will require working early mornings, late evenings and nights as and when required.
Job Responsibilities:
Able to demonstrate and deliver high quality guarding and customer service to both our clients and service users.
Proactively engage with visitors as an Ambassador of the Gallery – be committed to having/obtaining a good knowledge of the permanent collection, temporary exhibitions/displays and events, including Gallery Membership.
Ensure all visitor queries are responded to with an ‘above and beyond’ approach to ensure a successful and positive visit – from arrival to departure.
Commit to deliver and promote an inclusive and accessible environment and visit for all.
Provide ticket-scanning and queue management function, whilst also providing a warm and professional welcome to exhibitions.
Display the highest standard of personal presentation, hygiene and smartness of uniform to maintain the image of Securitas and the customer.
Ensure health and safety procedures are always followed and maintained.
Record and report all faults, health and safety hazards and unsafe working practices to supervisor/manager.
All employees must always be mindful of confidentiality and never to discuss the security operation at the National Gallery with any member of the public or non-security staff members. All queries from the press should be directed to the Press Department.
Ensuring adherence to the Gallery’s Admissions Policy.
Ensuring adherence to company and client’s Access Control measures.
Provide a first-line response to incidents within the boundary of the Gallery’s property line.
Respond to alarms and incidents as per the Standard Operating Procedures and the site escalation process which can include but is not limited to, deliberate or accidental damage to the collection, threatening behaviour, protests or social media pranks, lost property and safeguarding issues etc.
Report suspicious behaviour and activity to management.
To de-escalate complaints (conflict management).
To support opening/closing security procedures and ensure evacuations are undertaken in a smooth manner and support Fire Safety measures.
Reporting all accidents and near misses to the onsite Duty Manager team and respond to First Aid incidents as and when required.
Gallery Room Invigilation
Ensure that visitors, contractors and staff members enjoy the collection in a safe manner by being able to challenge and de-escalate unsafe activity and ensure all reportable incidents are escalated appropriately.
Answer visitor queries by having a good working knowledge of the building lay-out, permanent collection and temporary exhibitions/events on the day.
Proactively patrolling assigned Gallery area; being vigilant and conducting regular visual checks of the artwork.
Public Entrance/Exits (internal and external positions)
Setting up public entrances/exits for opening hours and ensuring areas are shut down for closing.
Bag searching; security arches/wand management in accordance with site guidance.
Queue management (ticket scanning as and when required).
External and internal patrols as and when required.
Ensuring all visitors adhere to the Visitor Admissions Policy (including directing visitors to the cloakroom when appropriate, deterring and refusing entry when appropriate, confiscating prohibited items etc.)
Provide a first-line response to incidents within the boundary of the Gallery’s property line.
Back-of-house Security (static positions)
Ensuring all staff, contractors, visitors, and guests meet access control requirements and that ID checks are carried out and logged.
Issuing and logging temporary passes.
Maintaining vehicle log.
Logging deliveries.
Undertake and log security patrols or opening/closing security checks.
Must be able to use Microsoft Outlook (email) and be confident in using I.T. equipment to keep data logs, checks and ensure both are accurate and up to date.
Answer telephone and emails in a prompt and professional manner.
Ensure continued invigilation of position, including cameras when required.
