Learning Support Assistant (LSA) – PRU (Primary & Secondary) – Islington
Location: Islington, London
Contract: Full-time, term-time only
Start Date: Immediate or as soon as possible
We are seeking compassionate, dedicated, and proactive Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to join our team, working across both Primary and Secondary Pupil Referral Units (PRUs) in Islington. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people who require additional support due to social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
Key Responsibilities:
-Provide one-to-one or group support for pupils with SEMH needs, ensuring they are fully included in classroom and school activities.
-Work closely with teachers and other school staff to develop and deliver tailored interventions.
-Support the emotional, behavioural, and educational needs of pupils, helping to improve their engagement and progress.
-Implement behaviour management strategies, working with the school’s... policies to create a supportive learning environment.
-Help pupils develop social skills, resilience, and self-regulation techniques.
-Assist with daily activities, including pastoral care, to foster a safe and nurturing atmosphere.
Requirements:
-Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, ideally within a PRU or similar setting.
-A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting pupils with challenging behaviour.
-Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
-An understanding of behaviour management techniques and safeguarding principles.
-Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a dynamic and sometimes challenging environment.
-A relevant qualification in education, childcare, or related fields is desirable but not essential.
