Responsibilities
The Data Centre Maintenance Engineer works is responsible for operating and maintaining electrical and mechanical equipment and systems to ensure that overall availability and reliability meets or exceeds defined service levels in accordance with Company specified policies, processes and procedures.
• Operating and maintaining all electrical, mechanical, and HVAC equipment and systems under a rigorous change management system to maintain 100% uptime availability
• Monitoring and troubleshooting all site/plant equipment support systems to include logging and responding to incidents/events, problems, changes, monitoring, problem escalation/notification/ resolution and all other aspects of site support (mechanical, electrical, HVAC, generators, fire alarms and suppression etc)
• Utilising maximum capabilities of all operational systems including BMS, PMS, CMS
• Managing sub-contracted resources, as necessary, to deliver a safe and quality service to the Business
• Overseeing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) scheduled activity
• Management, of contractors in-line with the site Permit to Work (PtW) system
• Ensuring a positive Health and Safety (H&S) culture is promoted and maintained across the site
• Oversight of critical works
• Operating and maintaining power supplies and environmental services to safeguard critical client systems and equipment
• To be fully conversant with Company policies, operating and emergency procedures, and initiate improvements, to minimise risk and to promote best practice
• Working closely with other site workers on all customer-impacting work to ensure streamlined communication and the maintenance of high levels of customer service
• Performing and recording details of site walkthroughs to verify efficient operation of equipment and monitoring systems
• Acting as a First Responder to critical incidents or events
• Completing site documentation before and after work tasks, as appropriate
• Carrying out Risk Assessments of equipment maintenance and other tasks and ensuring these are reviewed and updated as required
• Development and implementation of Operational Procedures (OPs) and Work Instructions
• Creating entries on the Service Desk ticketing system
• Alarm management, alarm clean-ups and alarm/historical data extractions
• Ensuring all tools and equipment are kept in good condition

Qualifications
• Level 3 NVQ in Engineering
• AP12 or AP Authorised Person Training
• At least 2-yrs post qualification experience
• IT literate, MS Office (Word/Excel etc)
• IOSH – Working Safely (Desirable)
Experience
• Aptitude for trouble-shooting and problem-solving complex issues through Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
• Detailed understanding of Change Management processes and procedures
• Ability to follow procedures system documentation and track issues through appropriate entries into a Service Desk Ticketing system
• Knowledge of BMS systems
• Good understanding of PPM/CAFM systems
• Management and working within a documented Permit to Work (PtW) system
• Ability to understand OEMs and other technical documentation
• Methodical & analytical approach to work
• Ability to work in collaborative and independent work situations and environments with minimal supervision
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills essential.
• Experience of operating in a customer facing role and dealing with technical problems in challenging situations
• Experience of maintaining Pumps, HVAC Systems, Compressors, Boilers, steam systems and ancillary services, (DHW skids), Chillers, Cooling Towers, Clean steam Boilers, Purified Water Systems, CIP systems, Low/Medium voltage Electrical Systems, UPS, Generators and other associated systems
