An exciting opportunity has risen for a highly motivated Band 5 nurse to join our friendly and dynamic School Health Service Team which is responsible for the delivery of National Child Measurement Programme (NCMP), Vision & Hearing for Reception and lateral children staring school, creating care plans children who are in reception class and providing training to teaching staff

The team is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated nurse who are passionate about the delivery of the programme .It is desirable that the candidate has experience of working with children in the community setting with good understanding of public health.

The successful candidate will need to have the ability to work autonomously and as part of an integral skill-mix team. The busy team delivers National Child Measurement Programme for both Reception & year 6 Pupils, Vision & hearing using Thomson School Screener.

The post-holder will be a member of a multi skilled school nurse team working with colleagues to provide a public health focussed needs-led equitable service to children and young people in Lewisham. The service is delivered using corporate caseload load approach. S/he will be guided by the Team Manager and will work with colleagues across education and social care. S/he will support junior members of staff. S/he will provide health promotion programmes to schools as outlined in the services core objectives. S/he will work closely with School staff, Community Paediatricians, health visitors and GP’s as well as other professionals and agencies. S/he will record and monitor services delivered and report back to the Team Leader. She will take responsibility for developing care plans for children with specific health care needs with support and guidance from the Team Leader and special needs nursing team. Attend child protection conferences. The post holder will support the service in the delivery of health promotion programmes and others areas of service delivery in the school and community setting
