The Role & Key Responsibilities

Are you an enthusiastic and confident communicator with an analytical eye? A new and exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Programme and Education Team within the Sussex Safer Roads Partnership (SSRP).

The role will be to focus on educational messaging and activities to improve Road Safety for all road users in the county with the overall aim to reducing the number of individuals killed and seriously injured on the roads.

You will work with partners such as local authorities and the fire service delivering presentations and public engagement events such as schools, motoring events, and police enforcement campaigns. Together with your supervisor you will then evaluate these interactions and behavioural change.

This important role within the SSRP is largely engaging with Partners and Stakeholders to support the development, delivery, and evaluation on a variety of projects all aimed at improving road safety and changing behaviours.
• Plan and attend public engagements based on established SSRP engagement calendar, liaising with both internal and external agencies.
• Gather, track, and analyse feedback from Partners and external agencies in relation to projects, events, and campaigns.
• Explore new innovation with the potential to improve road safety and reduce harm on the roads.
• Attend relevant local and national road safety meetings and events, providing clear updates to relevant stakeholders through verbal and written presentations.
• Liaise with local road safety groups to share road safety awareness and improvements, initiatives, and projects.

Undertake other duties appropriate to the grade and character of work as may be reasonably required, including specific duties of a similar or lesser graded post.

Skills & Experience
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and interactive skills, including an ability to manage opposing views.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimum supervision and as part of a team.
• Ability to adapt style and embrace change quickly and appropriately to suit the circumstances.
• Holder of UK Driving Licence.
• Able to use your own initiative including the ability to prioritise and organise workloads, with a willingness to learn and develop.
• Have an enquiring mind with the ability to problem solve efficiently and effectively and explain reasoning.
• Able to assess options and make decisions based on information from a variety of sources.
