A successful Estimator will need to be motivated, have attention to detail and take pride in their work.
You will require a willingness to take ownership and responsibility for your projects and to work well with other departments around you, to build and managing relationships.
Technical Skills
You will be required to have:
I. A minimum of 5 GCSE grade C/4 or above (or equivalent), ideally in Math’s and Science.
II. A solid working knowledge of Microsoft packages; Outlook, Excel, and Word.
III. A proven track record of carrying out a similar role.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
The role of Estimator is to plan, implement and deliver tenders according to the latest companies Estimating Department Operating Procedures.
An Estimator is expected to maintain the company’s standard of work in all duties.
You will have overall responsibility for the preparation of all tenders from receipt to Sales Manager sign off, working to the following guidelines:
Overview of work stream and... roles undertaken:
1. Review all Tender Documents for potential risk and exposure and provide key information across the contract team.
2. If required, carry out surveys and report findings back to the Sales Manager.
3. Review tender specifications, programmes, and pricing schedules for quotation purposes and ensure compliance.
4. File all tender information in correct folder locations, e.g., specification, programme, and drawings.
5. Identifying value engineering solutions to create a commercial advantage over competitors.
6. Liaise with suppliers for costs of equipment and parts, ensuring compliance with the tender documents.
7. Preparing RFIs detailing tender qualifications and particulars.
8. To work with and maintain the existing company estimating department procedures.
9. Preparation of all documents to meet the company standards.
10. Submitting tenders for a review to the Sales Manager, including the project handover signed document. Information to be submitted with ample time to meet customers deadlines.
11. After tender submission, ensure all tenders are chased and your manager is kept informed of the bid prospects.
12. Maintain the Quote Bank.
13. Supervise, mentor, and encourage other team members. Treating them in a professional manner.
14. All your office and site activities will be client facing and as a result you are our representative to the client. At all times you will be expected to maintain a professional appearance and manner, be punctual, helpful, and courteous to clients and colleagues.
15. Attend all weekly Estimating Meetings.
