Go-Ahead London is the capital’s largest bus operator and we employ the overwhelming number of our 8,000 people Go-Ahead London’s buses are on the Capital’s roads 24 hours a day. These vehicles cost anywhere between £125,000 – £450,000 and are equipped with the latest technologies and innovations. We expect them to be maintained to the highest standards and ready to go into service at a moment’s notice.
We are looking for an emerging leader who is a dynamic, self-motivated and qualified engineer to fill this key position.

The Responsibilities
As Engineering Manager, you will control all the engineering resources within the garage to ensure provision of sufficient vehicles to the required standard of reliability, presentation and condition for the operational demands on the TFL network.
The Engineering Managers working environment is essentially fluid, but with a base structure of planned maintenance. There will be a need to deal with a proportion of... irregular or unusual events. To control the engineering section effectively, the Engineering Manager must be capable of clearly analysing and defining problems and of making the correct decisions to provide the required and appropriate solutions. The areas in which judgement will be required are wide and varied. They will range from technical problems, personnel considerations and local negotiations through to stock control, health and safety and budget interpretation.
Qualifications
The Engineering Manager must have sound practical experience in staff management at the appropriate level, a thorough knowledge of all engineering agreements, procedures and rules affecting the garage. They must possess leadership qualities, be capable of motivating staff and commanding respect and be able to work as a team member within the management structure.
Ideally, you will be a member of the IRTE or have another relevant professional qualification and hold, or be able to gain, the NEBOSH general certificate and Transport Managers CPC. You will be required to be a nominated Transport Manager.
You will need to have a good technical knowledge of common emission control systems and diesel electric hybrids. You will be expected to keep yourself abreast of emerging technologies and technological developments.
