Kalayaan is an award-winning, London-based charity that provides advice, support and advocacy services to migrant domestic workers. Many of our services users have experienced abuse and exploitation, including modern slavery. We are also nominated First Responders and refer victims of trafficking for domestic servitude or modern slavery into the National Referral Mechanism (NRM).
After many years of dedicated service, our Chief Executive Officer is stepping down and we’re looking for a new leader who shares a commitment to the rights of migrant domestic workers. We are seeking a person who has the vision, leadership and management skills to ensure that as a thriving organisation we continue to respond effectively to changing circumstances and needs.
As CEO, you will be responsible for the day-to-day governance and oversight of the organisation, providing regular updates to the Board.
The role requires an individual who can:
• Inspire, manage and oversee a team of permanent staff... and volunteers (eight members of staff and 25 volunteers)
• • Influence external parties, including national and international government policy makers
• Think strategically, lead Kalayaan and deliver on objectives within budget (annual turnover for 2023-24 was about £500,000)
• Build and maintain excellent collaborative relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
• Show an understanding of immigration law and human trafficking
• Be confident in taking difficult decisions in the interest of keeping the organisation and its service users safe
• Demonstrate strong financial management to keep Kalayaan within budget
• Demonstrate leadership to keep Kalayaan funded so that we achieve our goals
• Ensure the organisation remains sustainable and compliant to the highest standards of all applicable laws and regulations
Salary: £55,000-£70,000 depending on experience
