Job Description
Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: -
Preparation of samples as identified from work schedules
Analyse samples by GC-MS, GC-FID, GCxGC-FID and/or HPLC, processing and interpreting data for uploading to LIMS.
Enter results onto LIMS to assist with the generation of accurate and timely data in line with client expectations and UKAS standards
Ensure all data meets the requirements of Eurofins Chemtest’s Quality Management System and IISO17025 guidelines.
Assistance in maintenance programmes for the Inorganics Team’s analytical instrumentation and any other analytical equipment used by the Department. Maintenance procedures shall ensure that instruments are kept in a clean and serviceable condition and that routine in house maintenance procedures are kept up to date.
Maintenance, storage and labelling of adequate stocks of reagents and standards.
Perform some troubleshooting of instruments and methods.
Communicate promptly with the Team Leaders and/or Department Head when turnaround deadlines cannot be met with justifications and proposals to remedy the problem.
Communicate promptly with the Team Leaders and/or Department Head when insufficient resources are available to fulfill the duties of the Department.
Responsibilities:
Follow established procedures to perform analysis according to work schedules.
Operate systems, ensuring results are completed to agreed deadlines.
Responsibility for managing your own analytical workload which will include working with preparation staff to ensure samples are prepared for analysis according to customer requirements
Process and interpret analytical data, uploading to LIMS
Performing analysis within the framework of the Laboratory’s Quality Management System and in accordance with requirements of ISO17025
Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of instrumentation and other analytical equipment
Prepare samples, solutions and reagents following standard laboratory formulas and procedures.
Process and interprets analytical results for entry onto LIMS
To work in a professional and safe manner
To assist others in the performance of their duties if trained in that area of operation and if time allows.
Maintenance of confidentiality
To comply with all the Health and Safety and ISO14001 requirements of your role, and perform any other reasonable duties as required by the Eurofins Chemtest Business.
Qualifications
Relevant Degree/HNC or equivalent – Science
6 months relevant work experience
Additional Information
Understanding of ICP-OES, ICP-MS, Automated Colourimetric and IC methodologies, specically in environmental testing/water sector
Previous experience working in a high-throughput analytical laboratory, ideally within the environmental sector
Previous experience working in an ISO17025 accredited laboratory
Use of LIMS would be advantageous
