Eurofins Professional Scientific Services (PSS) is part of the Global Eurofins Business with over 61,000 employees.  Eurofins PSS recruits full time scientists on permanent positions at client sites working collaboratively side by side with clients at their site on their projects and helping to develop and bring new medicines to patients to help improve and save lives.

Job Description

The purpose of this role is to provide expertise within Drug Product Formulation, Engineering and manufacture for drug projects spanning all phases of development for Oral Solid Dosage products

  • Support the development of delivery of Drug Product projects spanning all phases of development for Oral Solid Dosage products, working collaboratively with project strategies.
  • Generate experimental data to support development decisions and regulatory documentation.
  • Foundational skills in practically supporting small scale manufacturing of development drug product batches, including planning, execution (including set up and clean down) and writing up of lab work. Examples may include but not limited to blending, tablet compression, coating, and encapsulation.
  • To collaborate with peers within the oral product development area to execute drug product plans, which may relate to formulation/process development, and/or studies to better understand product risks; ultimately to provide data which will inform the process.
  • To Support development of oral formulations for clinical studies and commercialisation
  • To Execute experiments (batch manufacture, mini-piloting or physical testing) based on protocols, to support various teams and programs.
  • Work cross functionally with relevant individuals and project teams.
  • Make accurate and contemporaneous records; analyse and interpret experimental data.
  • Support department operational needs, which may include ordering and managing supply of raw materials, preparation for material shipping, coordinating with equipment service engineers.
  • Maintain safety, regulatory and compliance standards as they relate to the development of drug product, for example COSHH, risk assessments and contractor control.
  • Support internal and external audits as required.
  • Foundational interpretation of data and contributing to writing internal development protocols and reports.
  • Support design, prototype and scale up of drug product formulations and manufacturing processes.
  • SHE responsibilities (such as risk assessments) and lab ownership.
  • Assist in wider scientific capability development, via relevant internal technical networks, and ongoing Science & Technology initiatives.
  • Collect and interpret data, making accurate and detailed records of practical activities in accordance with Client Departmental SOPs.
  • Facilitate investigations and support associated investigation.
  • Support equipment inspection and audits.
  • Troubleshoot methods and instrument problems.
  • To participate in the preparation of reports and other documentation as required by Lead Scientist or Client.
  • Attend regular client/Eurofins team meetings. Engage in these meetings, gaining learning and understanding of the wider Material Science, Formulation and Manufacturing communities.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Chemistry, Chemical engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences or other relevant field.
  • Foundational experience in Pharmaceutical Sciences in Product Development.
  • Up to 2 years’ relevant industrial experience.
  • A fundamental understanding of how to develop and manufacture a range of standard oral solid dosage formulations.
  • Foundational practical and relevant analytical skills are required.
  • Building ability to problem solve and troubleshoot.
  • Collaborative, networking and interpersonal skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to document work clearly and concisely, as well as build understanding and describe data / findings importance to others.
  • Ability to work safely and comply with key quality systems to ensure data integrity.
  • Good organisational and planning skills, and an ability to deliver to agreed time and quality.
  • Ability to quickly learn new processes and establishing skills in providing suggestions proactively for new ways to improve existing processes with a view to reduce the cost of goods, minimise waste and improve process and product quality.
  • Once competent ability to work on own initiative and be capable of developing solutions to problems as part of a team.
  • Willing to operate in a flexible manner and be able to switch priorities at short notice. Seeks new ideas to make improvements within own area of control.
  • Developing skills in being able to communicate documents or concepts to co-workers, clients or external manufacturing organisations.
