Visa Consulting and Analytics (VCA) is the consulting arm of Visa, and drives tangible, impactful and financial results for Visa’s network clients, including both financial services and merchants. Drawing on our expertise in strategy consulting, data analytics, brand management, marketing, operational and macroeconomics, VCA solves the most strategic problems for our clients.
VCA Managed Services (VMS) is an augmentation of Visa’s consultancy offering. VMS deploy Visa specialists to work within our clients’ infrastructure either standalone or alongside existing teams. The purpose is to support our clients in strategic execution and implementation to help scale competitive advantage and operate to succeed in the digital age. We are looking for a Data Scientist to a be key member of our VMS team and Data Science community in the UK&I. In this role, you will be assigned to exciting opportunities at specific clients to work with our clients’ data in their infrastructure. You may be required to work independently, in a VMS team and/or alongside our client’s existing teams. Whichever it is, you will always have a Visa network and team there to support you. Client engagements may vary in length but will have the core requirement for you to be a critical Visa-representative, accountable for producing valuable analysis and extracting relevant insights to define and deliver strategic goals with mutually beneficial outcomes for both parties.
Even when working with our clients, you will be part of the VCA family. This means having the ability to build your network, learn from other experts and previous client engagements, be informed about the latest developments in the payments industry on a global level, ask questions and problem solve with colleagues, and share your knowledge and ideas to drive innovation and evolve our capabilities and offerings.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
What we’re after…
Extensive experience with common data science, data analysis and statistical methods.
Experience in the application of predictive modelling and machine learning techniques to solve business problems.
Consistent track record of converting data into actionable insights and recommendations resulting in tangible benefits.
Proven analytical experience within financial services consumer credit portfolios with an understanding of lending products, profitability and credit risk.
Proficient in SAS, SQL and Python analytical software packages.
Experience using data technologies including relational, dimensional, NoSQL data platforms plus metadata, data transformation tools, and traditional warehouse technologies.
Strong organisational, problem-solving, inter-personal and communication skills.
Ability to proactively draw out business opportunities.
Excellent attention to detail.
Graduate/Post Graduate degree (Masters or PhD) in Quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Operational Research, Computer Science, Economics, or engineering or equivalent experience.
Preferred Experience:
Project management, working across a range of teams resulting in successful delivery.
Working knowledge of FCA regulations and their application in a consumer lending environment.
Expertise in data visualisation tools and techniques.
Hands on experience on processing extremely large data sets.
Understanding of payments and Visa’s role in the ecosystem.
Knowledge of payment network transactional data.
