Job Description

The Business Planning Manager is a highly cross functional and strategic role on Learning Strategy & operations team. This role is blending a unique mix of skills from Business Strategy & Planning, Financial management, Operations, Analytics & Reporting and will play a pivotal role in driving our L&D strategy through data-driven insights and strategic planning. The Business Planning Manager reports to the Director of Business Planning, Data, and Analytics and will work closely with other senior leaders to drive success of our L&D initiatives.

The position is based in London, UK and requires close collaboration and frequent interactions with extended global and regional teams.

Business Strategy and Planning Support   

Act as a strategic business partner to support overarching Visa University (VU) strategy, Planning and operations. Key Responsibilities includes, but not limited to   

  • Support business planning requests from the functional heads such as preparing templates and providing supporting data for monthly/quarterly business reviews.  
  • Annual Visa University and function level goals tracking and reporting, scorecard development and management
  • Maintain VU event calendar/key activities – enterprise annual learning and non-learning events e.g., key internal/enterprise events, annual review cycle, budget cycle, townhalls, business reviews/milestones.     
  • Prepare comprehensive executive learning reports for Visa leadership and external publications to summarize Visa’s philosophy, investments, and impact of learning and provide regular updates for Visa People Team executive reporting.  
  • Support business with Workforce plan management in partnership with Workforce planning team and People business partners.
  • Support special projects from inception, to planning, to execution with clear communication, outcomes, and responsibilities.
  • Manage VU internal communication and collaboration channels.
  • Liaison with adjacent Business planning groups, People business partners (e.g., Global Talent, People, Learning Tech, Finance Partners)
  • Manage VU enterprise subscriptions aligned with upskilling VU staff and Visa employees  

Financial Management and Operations

  • Act as a thought partner to the VU leaders for financial matters
  • Support annual budget planning and day-to-day financial operations. 
  • Reconcile actual monthly expenses highlighting variances, reforecast, identify opportunities, and outline remediation plan.
  • Analyse and provide insights on how money is being spent.
  • Partner with other Business planning managers for roll-up reporting and ensure effective utilization across VU  
  • Collaborate with Finance partners to ensure budget/expense accuracy and monthly reporting.
  • Anticipate changes and act quickly in accordance with the guidance.
  • Act as consultant to the business for financial operations, end-to-end processes, provide finance ops and vendor management support. 
  • Leverage Visa Finance systems and develop/maintain any additional tool/processes needed for consistent tracking, just-in-time reporting, and continuous improvement.
  • Client and Stakeholder Partnerships - Develop, cultivate, and maintain close relationships with vendors, decision-makers and other influencers

Analytics and Reporting

  • Champion standard VU dashboards and key metrics
  • Design subfunction level dashboard/scorecard and partner closely with Core Analytics team for implementation and regular updates  
  • Acquire and analyse the data from primary and secondary sources to provide key insights and reporting to the function.

Qualifications


• Experience in a similar role or in a leadership position, preferably within a corporate learning and development environment.
• Strong knowledge of learning data analysis combined with behavioural data, HR data, performance metrics and business data for articulating the impact of learning.
• Proficiency in data analytics software and business intelligence tools, such as SQL, Tableau, Power BI, and Watershed
•Strong experience working with direct and indirect reports, clear communication, effective collaboration in complex matrixed organization, and a go-getter mindset
• Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
• Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly convey data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
• Project management skills and strong execution capability to deliver against dynamic business needs.
• Self-confident and hands-on, with the ability to operate in a fast paced and constantly changing work environment.
• Strong business planning and financial acumen.
• Ability to interpret financial information and data to non-finance stakeholders.
