You will be part of hardware design team in Data Center Engineering (DCE) organization that designs and validates Solid-State Drives (SSD) for data center applications. As mechanical design engineer, you will collaborate with the PCB and manufacturing team to optimize component placement and SSD enclosures for high volume manufacturing (HVM). You will be creatively applying your technical know-how engineering fundamentals, analytical thinking against design constraints to develop and productize cost optimized SSD drives. You will also build proof-of-concept prototypes to perform Design-of-Experiments (DOE’s) and instrument prototypes for thermal and mechanical stress analysis to perform feasibility studies.
To accomplish your deliverables, you will use HVM process knowledge to create design models in CAD software packages like SolidWorks. You will analyze your design for thermals using CFD tools like FloTherm and for thermal-mechanical reliability using FEA tools like ANSYS-Mechanical. You will work on developing key relationships with internal design teams, Solidigm outsourcing organization as well as suppliers to plan comprehensive product strategies based on future technologies.
