Job Description

Purpose of the Role 

As a Data Engineer, your core responsibility is to support the Business Intelligence Team in achieving key deliverables and enhancing data-driven decision-making processes. You will collaborate closely with Operations and Sales Teams in a multi-jurisdictional environment, addressing data requests and issues through insightful analysis and efficient data cleaning exercises.

By fulfilling the below mentioned responsibilities and embodying the technical and business skills, you will play a pivotal role in leveraging data to make informed decisions, supporting the team’s objectives, and contributing to the overall success of Ocorian.

Main Responsibilities 

  • Contribute to the daily execution of key deliverables within the Business Intelligence Team
  • Collaborate with Operations and Sales Teams to understand and address data requirements and challenges
  • Carry out data cleansing exercises, which may extend to jurisdictional and regulatory requirements
  • Assist in the documentation of solutions for efficient knowledge transfer and team alignment
  • Provide analytical support to the Business Intelligence Team, conducting some exploratory data analysis

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Technical Skills

  • Min 8-10 years experience in basic SQL and BI tools, ideally Power BI would be advantageous
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience of data cleansing tools and methodologies
  • Proficiency in SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), ensuring alignment with stakeholder requirements and business goals.
  • Experience in completing complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and functions to manipulate and retrieve data efficiently.
  • Skilled at designing and implementing ETL processes using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) for data extraction, transformation, and loading.
  • Experience in tabular data modelling with SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) for creating cubes, dimensions, and measures to support business analytics and reporting.
  • Proficiency in performance tuning and optimization techniques to enhance the speed and efficiency of database queries, ETL processes, and reports.
  • Experience in data warehousing concepts, including data modelling, schema design, data cleansing, and data aggregation.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to database performance, data integrity, and ETL processes.
  • Demonstrate an ability to act as a liaison between technical teams and stakeholders, bridging the gap between technical requirements and business objectives to ensure successful project outcomes.
