Job Description
As a confident financial analyst, your role will provide analytical support to the Finance Planning & Performance team, and wider finance team, providing insights, updates and financial reporting outputs, having the ability to research through data to understand trends and insights that sit behind the financial results.
The overall purpose of this role is to:
Play a leading role in the planning and forecasting cycles in bp Pulse, managing specific areas and coordinating the group consolidation and reporting
Provide weekly/monthly/ad hoc KPI reporting and performance updates/analysis
Partnering cost stakeholders/budget owners across the business supporting with insights to actual spend and forecasting vulnerabilities and opportunities, covering both payroll and non-payroll expense.
Month end cost allocations across the Network & Commercial business areas
Become a super user in BP’s Financial Reporting systems (no prior experience required)
Carry out financial and non-financialresults reconciliations between systems and understand where differences have occurred so that they can be corrected.
Qualifications
You will be:
A commercially minded financial analyst with experience of creating insights through data analysis. You will need:
Good attention to detail
Organised and methodical approach to work
Strong excel skills
Ability to analyse complex data and surface underlying trends to allow actionable insight by financial and non-financial stakeholders
You should have good communication and stakeholder management skills, both spoken and written word, who is comfortable challenging the status quo
Naturally inquisitive and capable of understanding the commercial aspects of the business and the impacts of them on the P&L/Balance Sheet and Cash flow
No previous Power BI skills are required but are preferable, there will be a need to learn and develop skills in this space to facilitate management reporting and training will be provided
Ability to roll sleeves up and get into the detail when required with a sense of one-team
Desirable criteria and qualifications:
Experienced finance professional with previous experience in this area.
