Paragraf’s patented contamination-free deposition technology delivers game-changing opportunities for the commercialisation of graphene by allowing us to manufacture high-purity 2D graphene sheets at scale.

Paragraf is the first company in the world to mass produce graphene-based electronic devices using standard semiconductor processes. We not only specialise in the manufacture of high-purity graphene but also its seamless integration into ready to use products that can be quickly adopted by our customers and partners to support the advancement of their technologies.

Founded as a spin out from Cambridge University in 2017 with the aim of transferring the technology from the academic lab into a commercial entity. Since then, we have grown from one site in Somersham, Cambridgeshire and three employees to a team of over 100 amazing people and an additional production facility in Huntingdon as well as sales teams globally promoting Paragraf.

This role focuses on coordinating and implementing the development of Software and Data for Prototypes and Production/Automation/Data Capture Systems, which actively support our world leading graphene devices and their application by customers. This role will operate within the Development Team and liaise across the business to understands customer requirements directly or through the product manager and deliver solutions to meet or exceed customer requirements and align with best practice.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Experienced software engineer who will develop software application, including network interface, DLL and the graphical user interface for our Graphene electronics products.
  • Lead, manage and support the software & data architecture development, working with the product management, IT and the commercial team to deliver positive outcomes.
  • Report on project development, deliverables and provide professional user documentation for the software and API/DLL.
  • Deliver Tactical quick wins as well as provide strategic solutions on long term Data and software systems
  • Deliver frameworks and systems for analyzing data, with UX and automation at the forefront
  • Comfortable working autonomously on fast-paced, high output projects involving rapid prototyping, and immediate stakeholder support.
  • Manage and deliver work packages and software repositories to a quality standard, making the security and reusability of code as a key design component as per best practice.

Requirements

Education and Qualification:

  • Degree educated in Computer Science, electronics or similar field.

Experience:

  • Experience in the full product lifecycle from concept through to production support.
  • Programming: C, C#, .NET, NodeJS, Python, LabView, DLLs
  • User Interfaces: employing good UX to enable customers to achieve great outcomes
  • Data Skills:  SQL querying and Table structure for extendibility and readability
  • Software testing frameworks and designing automated software test systems.
  • Experience with data communication protocols and standards such as Ethernet and USB.
  • Experience in the full product lifecycle from concept through to production support.
  • Strong documentation and repository management practices
  • Software deployment and version control systems.
  • Software testing frameworks and designing automated software test systems.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain comprehensive and complex software to all levels of expertise.
  • Bitbucket, GitHub or similar
  • Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team
  • At least 3 years in Software Development, preferably in Product (Equipment) Development
  • Experience in test, instrumentation equipment development and or Production systems (e.g. MES/ERPs).
  • JMP Scripting Language, Scripting of Scheduled Tasks.
  • Embedded firmware experience for ARM/NXP processors or similar.
  • Programming languages: Assembler.
  • Experience implementing device drivers, such as for USB.
  • Relational Database schema’s and best practices
  • Embedded firmware experience for ARM/NXP processors or similar.

 

Communication:

  • Ability to work flexibly and digest requirements, while quickly delivering software to suit needs, from PoC’s to hardened and resilient production systems
  • Ability to communicate at all levels with both internal and external contacts
  • Ability to present information clearly and appropriately for the audience
  • Ability to develop system which communicate information efficiently

  • Responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy work environment by complying with company policies and processes and all relevant regulations including the use of PPE, as appropriate to the level and scope of the role. This includes participation in health and safety training and reporting of any potential hazards or breaches of safety protocols in the appropriate manner.
  • Managers are also expected to contribute to and support the continuous improvement of health and safety practices, encouraging a proactive culture of awareness and prevention within the team.
  • Willing to travel both domestically and abroad
  • UK Driving licence
