Contract: Permanent / Full time

Working pattern: Hybrid - 3 days per week on site

The role:

Reporting to the Head of People, our People & Training Manager will play an essential role in enhancing learning and development (L&D) and talent density across the company and boosting our People operations. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to implement, record and monitor training and L&D initiatives, and facilitate the overall exchange of knowledge. Alongside this you will support line managers with complex ER cases and People operations and contribute to achieving our quarterly and annual Goals & Targets.

Key responsibilities

Specifically, your key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

Learning, Development and Talent Density - Working with internal stakeholders to:

  • identify internal training needs and priorities;
  • facilitate delivery of training programmes and initiatives supporting our company goals & targets (G&Ts, which are our version of OKRs);
  • enhance the training experience for new joiners during onboarding;
  • improve talent density; and
  • explore scope for external learning and development opportunities (e.g. apprenticeships).

Monitoring and Evaluating -

  • Establishing and maintaining a library of our learning content and training about Oxwash equipment, policies, operational excellence and compliance;
  • Recording and monitoring training completion by all Oxwashers; and
  • Working with stakeholders to evaluate training effectiveness and adjust it as needed to ensure continuous improvement and a high-impact learning and development experience.

Complex Employee Relations - Being a trusted adviser to managers and employees for employee relations (ER) matters across the whole employment lifecycle, including conflict resolution and formal People procedures around performance management, absence, disciplinary and grievance where required.

Employee Experience and Engagement - Encouraging a positive employee experience, growth mindset and culture of continuous feedback and learning across the organisation. Facilitating the exchange of knowledge about specialist topics that benefit the company and upskill our people, by planning internal learning events such as workshops, fireside Q&As and lunch and learns.

Strategic Goals and Targets (G&Ts) - At Oxwash we work towards quarterly and annual G&Ts. You will contribute to strategic projects and working groups aligned with these goals and targets, primarily with our brilliant People team but also beyond this too.

Key relationships:

  • Head of People - You will report to our Head of People and work closely with them on all things learning and development and strategic People projects. They will assist with complex ER matters where needed and support you in your execution and professional development.
  • People team - You will be the third member of our People team, who work hard to ensure Oxwash is a positive place to work that upholds our values of creativity, excellence and integrity. While this role does not have designated line reports, you will mentor and coach our People & Talent Associate and line managers, especially with regards to ER and People operations.
  • Operations management team - You will work closely with members of our operational management (from Shift Managers to VP Business Operations & Strategy) to enhance training, learning and development for their teams.
  • Line managers - Oxwash primarily operates in a team-based / functional structure.  You will be a trusted advisor to line managers across the full spectrum of Oxwash specialisms.

Requirements

Key qualities & competencies:

These are some of the key qualities and competencies required in this role (categorised under our 4 performance pillars):

Technical competency

  • Specialist and technical knowledge - You will be familiar with and follow best practice in People operations, training and L&D, including up to date knowledge of HR and employment legislation, regulation and best practice.
  • Reliable execution - You will have good organisation, time management and prioritisation skills to support stakeholders consistently, adopting an outcomes-focus, accurate data-driven working style and ability to see the big picture while keeping an eye on essential detail.
  • Start up experience - Ideally you will have previous experience and knowledge of enhancing employee experience, people operations and learning and development in high growth organisations like Oxwash.

Technology, automation and innovation

  • You will be skilled at using Excel or G-sheets for data analytics, and identify ways to monitor, evaluate, automate and develop L&D in our systems and softwares, including our HRIS (HiBob) and Notion (where you’ll help to develop and maintain our VSOPs).

Leadership and collaboration

  • Confidence at Speed - Confidence working with the speed, dynamism and resource constraints of start-up environments.
  • Communication & Emotional Intelligence - Strong written and verbal communication and stakeholder management skills, both 1:1 and in groups. Adopting an approachable and empathetic manner that helps manage emotions, resolve conflicts and facilitate a positive employee experience and workplace culture.
