Forecasting Analyst at Gorilla
London, United Kingdom

Job Descrption

Join us at Gorilla, a pioneering SaaS company reshaping the energy sector landscape. Focusing on innovation, we provide cutting-edge data applications for energy retailers, revolutionising pricing, forecasting, and portfolio analysis. Our dynamic product team is split into two synergistic units: the Platform Team, crafting a robust, versatile data processing infrastructure, and the Applications Team, where creativity meets technology to develop specialised algorithms and applications. We are more than just a workplace; we are a hub of innovation where ideas fuel the future.

Your role

As a Forecasting Analyst in our Applications Team, you'll be at the heart of our mission to redefine energy retail solutions. By forecasting things better, we can enable end users to maximise the potential of intermittent renewable energy. Your role is pivotal in shaping the future of forecasting models, ensuring our products meet and exceed the energy sector's evolving needs.

Your responsibilities

  • Model Definition: Be at the forefront of designing forecasting solutions for the energy industry. Define and evaluate the performance of energy forecasting pipelines for gas, electricity and renewables.
  • Data insights: You are skilled in data analysis and data visualisation. You can convert model outputs and statistical test results into valuable insights for our customers
  • Collaborative Innovation: Work closely with our skilled algorithm engineers, translating conceptual ideas and theoretical knowledge of statistics and machine learning into well-structured solution definitions.
  • Quality Assurance: Meticulously test and refine models to ensure they adhere to the highest standards of reliability and accuracy.
  • Documentation: Diligently document methodologies, model specifications, and testing results, providing clear guidance for both internal teams and clients.
  • Knowledge Exchange: Engage in thought-provoking discussions with other subject matter experts, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.

A Day in the Life

Imagine starting your day diving into the latest energy market trends, extracting key insights to enhance our forecasting models. Collaborate with algorithm engineers in a vibrant, interactive session, brainstorming and refining ideas. Post-lunch, you're deep in testing some of the new features the engineers have delivered. As the day winds down, you document your findings, contributing to our knowledge base, and you'll end the day with a stimulating conversation with a fellow expert, exchanging ideas that could spark our next significant innovation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field.
  • Experience in data analysis, statistical modeling, and forecasting experience is considered an asset
  • European energy & utility market knowledge and expertise, preferably experience in a retail energy setting.
  • Nice to have some experience in data processing and analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Python, R).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A critical thinker with a passion for data and analytics.
  • A collaborative team player who thrives in dynamic environments.
  • A detail-oriented individual with a knack for problem-solving.
  • Eager to be part of a team shaping the energy sector's future.
  • You are a people person, just as much as a subject matter expert
  • Keen to travel extensively across the EMEA region
