The Role:
We are currently hiring for a Data Architect, who will be accountable for architecting, enhancing, managing, and supporting a highly available, distributed, cloud data platform for Sysco International business units and enterprise data.
The Architect will collaborate with the International business units, US architecture team and Sysco 3rd party Vendors to create data solution andl ensure alignment between the international businesses in the deployment of initiatives.
The role will also be the point of escalation for the International technology teams for prioritisation, dependencies, risks and issues.
The role will form part of the International Business Technology Team and will work closely with all the International business units and 3rd party contractors. The Data Architect will play a key role in Data Platform projects, the implementation of which is critical to the business operations and business-wide transformation projects.
Role Responsibilities:
Establish and define application architecture
Lead teams to deliver high-quality software and business solutions
Ensure architecture standards are maintained to a high quality and adhered to
Maintain awareness of the business domain and have a holistic view of business and technology landscape
Align engineering team members on technical vision and implementation and lead technical meetings regularly to clearly articulate engineering development status and escalate issues with tasks assigned
Review and provide feedback on technical deliverables
Operate as a functional lead and subject matter expert for Business Units BT and 3rd party contractors
Keep up to date with the latest Technology data solutions
Lead efforts in architecting and maintaining data solutions
Whilst not responsible for direct reports, management of third parties and project resource will be required from time to time. Similarly, the role of the Data Architect includes the responsibility to lead and coach other Technical Business resources in the adoption of best practices, techniques and processes concerning data
Knowledge, skills, experience, and competencies
You will have…
Extensive experience in architecting enterprise-level comprehensive data management strategies, data architecture for large systems, and with the modernization of data lake/warehouse environments.
Expertise in both leading and hands-on experience in data engineering and management activities such as Data Integration, Building Pipelines, Data ingestion, warehousing, modelling and reporting.
Hands-on experience in designing and managing large-scale, distributed data platforms, particularly using data lakes or similar technologies.
Expertise in developing cloud data architectures, particularly with Amazon Web Services (AWS) as a must-have, and preferably with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Microsoft Azure.
Hands-on programming experience building and managing data pipelines and supporting systems, primarily using Python, AWS Services like Redshift, Lambda, Athena, EMR, SQS, Data pipelines, Glue etc., Shell scripting, SQL, and NoSQL.
Experience in utilizing both open source and proprietary cloud data tools like Airflow, Glue, AWS Data Pipelines, MuleSoft, Redshift, BigQuery, and data visualization tools like Looker, Diver, Redash, Tableau, Power Bi etc.
Expertise in implementing data quality processes, automated testing and CI/CD processes.
Experience with version control (GitHub/bitbucket and PR review processes).
Experience with Agile methodologies (JIRA, Sprint, Story points etc.)
Prior experience with ERP systems and their integration into larger data ecosystems.
Experience in designing and implementing solutions that operate across multi-cloud architectures.
The ability to develop effective relationships across the business, technology, and wider change management community.
An ability to lead and coach others with similar core responsibilities but who are of a more junior level.
