Butchery Operative - Permanent 40 Hour Contract
Shift Detail: 3:00pm - 11:30pm, Sunday to Friday (Any 5 out of 6)
Salary: £28,150 - £30,000
A great opportunity for a Butcher to join our new meat production unit, based in Wigan, at our Carver & Co. Operation. – part of Sysco Speciality. The position requires providing high-quality products as well as maintaining excellent standards of Hygiene, H&S, food safety and HACCP/COSHH compliance. You will also support the training of our Operatives in basic meat trimming and Marel portioning machine operation.
You will work alongside the small team of operatives to support a wide variety of tasks across the production and warehouse operation. This includes using machinery to prepare meat to supply customer orders, picking orders, correctly packing and labelling meat products, storing products – both goods in from our suppliers and finished goods from production, and cleaning equipment. You’ll also be required to complete documentation BRC/FSA standard documentation.
To join us in this role ideally be an experienced Butcher able to trim and portion various whole primal joints, with a track record of monitoring and achieving correct portion control for quality cuts. You’ll have a keen interest in the food industry and will relish the opportunity to share your experience by training others in basic knife skills and the use of butchery machinery. You will be focused on quality and ensuring we produce the very best products for our customers. This is a varied role where you will be on your feet for long periods of time. There is an element of manual handling to receive deliveries, handle the meat products and store finished products. A current clean driving licence is required to deliver to our Warrington depot if required.
