The position of the Trading Manager is to provide leadership within the Darlington location through implementation of the Plumbing Superstore objectives, with the ability to create strong cross departmental co-ordination and delivery of actions from all. To achieve this, the role requires an individual with the ability to influence through strong communication and rapport building, not only within the Darlington location but to the wider departments across the group. It is imperative therefore that the person successful in this role is highly analytical but able translate this analysis to provide meaning for others, in a succinct and clear way that benefits all departments and ultimately results.
This person will need to have strong planning skills to oversee the overall day to day running of operations at the Darlington site in addition to the commercial role, therefore, an individual with strong knowledge of operational tasks such as, and not limited to, stock systems and management, health and safety with excellent people management is a must. This role is responsible for ensuring the effective and successful management of labour, productivity, and to support the warehouse team deliver on quality control and safety measures for the site. They will serve as a company representative on regulatory issues. They will enhance operational procedures with information flow and management, business process, and management reporting.
At the heart of the role is to be customer first.
To support the Director of Trading in delivering the monthly and weekly actions derived from the trading meetings and commercial focus, having a plan and making it happen.
Strong commercial acumen to pull together weekly trading slides, contributes to the monthly board packs and leads trading meetings across the matrix.
Consistently reviewing the customer experience within their ecommerce store(s) to be deliver our mission for an effortless and inspiring shopping experience, identifying problems, opportunities and to be best in class.
Finding range gaps and opportunities and presenting these to the business.
Planning, management & execution of product led campaigns and identify opportunities for additional promotional or product led activity.
To lead and co-ordinate resource with the head of personnel from each function onsite within the Darlington location, giving daily and weekly updates, plus agreeing the focus and or actions.
To influence and support cross departmental needs to achieve the groups and PSS objectives.
To inspire, manage and develop teams by leading by example with enthusiasm and the energy to promote high morale.
To find ways to prevent problems from happening and to solve any issues that arise, knowing when to escalate if required.
To handle people issues in conjunction with the HR team such as recruiting, selecting, counselling, performance managing, and disciplining employees
To develop strong collaborative relationships across the business and externally
To deliver great customer service and communication skills, ensuring that the call level and KPI’s are meeting or exceeding the objectives.
To confidently communicate policies, incentives, and safety measures
Be responsible for the opening & closing of the building inline with the business requirements
To assess and minimise risk onsite, for customers, our team and trading.
Act as a first point of contact for the heads of dept within Darlington and the go to person for co-ordinating resource and actions from the wider group, dealing with routine and specialist enquires in a professional manner and communicating all relevant information to col-leagues at briefings and referring to others as appropriate
Tracking the performance of their respective ecommerce store(s) against KPI’s and providing support and motivation to their team to ensure productivity targets are met or exceeded
Track performance of all employees against their personal / business objectives, whilst providing support and motivation to the team to ensure targets are met or exceeded
Managing day to day issues within the team
Update the team on company news and developments
Assist with first stage disciplinary/ grievance procedures
Coaching and supporting team members where necessary, ensuring ones to ones are performed on a regular basis
Ensure that team members clearly understand objectives, achievements and opportunities for development
Managing the team’s holidays and absences to ensure adequate cover is provided, completing return to work forms where necessary and reporting any issues to HR
Induct new members into the team and complete probationary reviews
Conduct performance and review meetings with team members
Responsible for ownership of tasks and have a flexible & adaptable approach to their work in order to meet sales targets & deadlines
To identify training needs within the team
Undertake any relevant research, development or training as required
As and when, there will be a requirement for you to support other members of the team, with tasks that may not be directly related to your day to day responsibilities. You will be expected to manage these within your workload
To carry out other appropriate delegated duties as required

Requirements
Essential:
Experience of similar E-commerce business knowledge
Site management/operational manager role
