Are you passionate about communicating important issues and having an impact around sustainability?  

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced brand and communications professional with experience of managing a brand in-house to bring design and creative skills to our dynamic and technical organisation that is well-established and working at the forefront of responsible sourcing and production of agricultural commodities around the world.  

You'll  work closely with Proforest’ s Director of Communications and our Designer, to manage the Proforest brand and lead on internal communications across a variety of channels, in coordination with regional communications managers.

Proforest is a mission-driven organisation with a 20+ year track record of supporting the transition to sustainable production and sourcing of agricultural and forest commodities. We are a not-for-profit group with a global presence across Latin America, Africa, Europe and Southeast Asia, and work with governments, the private sector and civil society to deliver positive outcomes for people, nature and climate in the places agricultural commodities are produced.  

Our clients are well-known consumer brands, such as Unilever, Nestlé, PepsiCo and Mars, and some of the world’s largest traders and integrated producers including Cargill, Olam, Wilmar and Cofco. We combine our consultancy work with longer-term programmes supported by institutional funders, with all profits re-invested in delivering our mission. 

Job Description

About the role

Within this new role you’ll have the opportunity to make a big impact whilst working collaboratively globally with passionate people to implement your ideas to drive our brand. You’ll be ensuring a cohesive and consistent Proforest brand across all internal and external communications, optimising our visual identity and looking for new opportunities of where our brand can be enhanced and pushed forward.  

 Responsibilities include: 

  • Manage an internal brand review across all channels and content types 
  • Identify and manage rationalisation of all assets including diagrams, iconography, infographics, animations, banners, templates, photography 
  • Work with Proforest’s Designer to update style guide and guidance on brand 
  • Lead on internal institutional communications, working with regional communications managers and leadership to improve or create new processes and platforms
  • Oversee Proforest website, Sharepoint, Teams, to support on brand and content as well as functionality 
  • Manage and own Proforest templates (PPT, Word), liaising with regional communications managers on any updates required 
  • Oversee PowerPoint design for technical staff, providing hands-on support and training 
  • Support where the Proforest brand is present externally, particularly through events and sponsorship, leading on identifying potential sponsorship or marketing opportunities, with a focus on Proforest Europe
  • Support regional comms managers where they need brand / marketing input or guidance for regional activity
  • Stay in touch with technical work to support project teams in knowledge sharing and internal communications
  • Be part of a team planning for Proforest’ s 25th anniversary in 2025.

Qualifications

About you

You’ll be passionate about our mission with some experience working or knowledge in the sustainability space, whether this is across climate, environment, nature, or social/human rights. To be considered you will also have:

Essential:

  • Experience managing a brand in-house, across multiple channels, ideally on a global (but not necessarily large) scale 
  • Brand management, Powerpoint design and templates, Adobe Creative Cloud and internal communications experience and knowledge
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with ability to present and persuade 
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and develop the role 
  • Culturally sensitive and ability to work with diverse international team.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in a global team, managing or overseeing internal communications 
  • Experience living and working in another country, particularly within Latin America, Sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia
  • Website management and CMS (Typo3) experience
  • eLearning course development experience
  • Degree level qualification or equivalent in a relevant discipline
  • Business-level in another language: Spanish, Portuguese, Bahasa Indonesia, French.

Key information

Salary: £50,000 - £57,000 per annum

Location: Oxford, UK (we will consider applications from those wishing to work from Leiden, The Netherlands)

Working hours: Full time (Monday to Friday), we will consider those looking to work 4 days per week.

Hybrid working: Proforest operates on a hybrid basis. We encourage staff to attend the office to maximise interactions with colleagues and encourage collaboration but also appreciate individual circumstances and preferences. We ask that you attend the office at minimum of twice a week and are happy to explore flexible working options.
