Our client, a leader in innovative software solutions, is seeking an experienced and results-driven Senior Project Manager to lead complex software development projects. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within the UK while driving critical initiatives for our globally distributed teams.
As a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of software development projects, from initiation and planning through to execution, monitoring, control, and closure. You will lead cross-functional teams, manage stakeholders, mitigate risks, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget. This role requires a strategic thinker with exceptional organizational and leadership abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Define project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business objectives, in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders. Develop comprehensive project plans, including detailed schedules, resource allocation, and budget management. Lead and motivate cross-functional project teams, fostering a collaborative and productive environment. Manage project execution, track progress against milestones, and proactively identify and address potential risks and issues. Implement and adhere to project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and best practices. Facilitate regular project status meetings, providing clear and concise updates to stakeholders at all levels. Manage vendor relationships and third-party contributions to projects. Ensure effective communication and stakeholder management throughout the project lifecycle. Conduct project post-mortems and create lessons learned reports to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements. Oversee the management of project budgets, forecasting, and expenditure. Ensure the quality of project deliverables and adherence to technical specifications. Champion process improvements within the project management framework. Mentor junior project managers and team members, sharing expertise and best practices.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus. Minimum of 7 years of experience in project management, specifically within software development or IT environments. Proven experience managing complex, cross-functional software projects from inception to completion. Strong understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies, with relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, CSM) highly desirable. Excellent leadership, team-building, and conflict-resolution skills. Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Jira, Asana, Microsoft Project). Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Experience working in a remote team environment is essential. Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.
