Pay Rate: £23.92 per hour PAYE
Hours per week: 37HRS Monday – Friday, normal working hours

Candidates must be available for immediate start
To apply for this role you will be admitted solicitor/barrister with recent and relevant experience in adult services law and you will possess recent advocacy experience. You will also have knowledge of Adult Social Care (Mental Capacity Act 2005, Care Act 2014, Mental Health Act 1983) and be able ability to manage substantial and complex Court of Protection proceedings essential.
The role:
As an experienced solicitor/barrister you will be working within this council providing legal advice and services both internally and externally. This opportunity will require experience in Adult Services Law within a local Authority to enable you to perform the required service. You will be offered the opportunity to participate in corporate or directorate projects, assignments or initiatives and will contribute to the development of corporate policy and strategy.
Key accountabilities:
• To manage the provision of timely, accurate legal advice to Directorates, Committees and Elected Members .
• Develop and draft legal documentation, correspondence and reports.
• To advocate before the Courts, Inquiries and Tribunals as required
• To participate in corporate or directorate projects, assignments or initiatives as required.
• Support the professional development of staff through coaching and mentoring as appropriate.
• Liaise with external professional staff regarding discreet areas of work as required.
• Ensure promotion and implementation the Council’s Equality Policy in all aspects of employment and service delivery
Key requirements:
• Admitted solicitor/barrister.
• Experience of Adult Social Care (Mental Capacity Act 2005, Care Act 2014, Mental Health Act 1983)
• Ability to manage substantial and complex Court of Protection proceedings essential.
• Recent advocacy experience.
• Experience in the use of ICT (familiar with Word, Outlook and legal research websites).
• Ability to communicate effectively (in writing and orally) with a diverse range of people.
• Proven experience of advising officers and councillors.
• Strong background in drafting relevant legal documents – applications, position statements, draft orders
